An Autographed 1 3/4" x 3" Cut Album Page (Learn More) Bob Burns was a well known musical comedian of the 1930s. He created a character called "The Arkansas Traveler", a hillbilly-like guy with many wacky relatives, and starting in 1944, in Belle of the Yukon, he played a homemade horn-like instrument. It looked like the "bazooka", which was a weapon used in World War II, and GIs started calling that weapon a bazooka because of Bob Burns' instrument! This instrument became so associated with him that he used it in almost all his movies (and he was thereafter often referred to as "Bob Bazooka Burns"). He appeared with Bob Crosby's band in the 1930s, which led to 12 movie appearances, always in character. He was married to fellow hillbilly Judy Canova from 1936 to 1939. He passed away in 1956 at the age of 65. Important Added Info: This cut album page has been personally autographed (signed) by Bob Burns. It could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display! Note that this item has been trimmed and it now measures 1 3/4" x 3" [4 x 8 cm]. This autograph (and others from this same collection we are offering in separate auctions) comes from the estate of Dorothy Credille, who was a Hollywood publicist in the 1930s to the 1950s. During the course of her work, she became personal friends and an acquaintance of all the top Hollywood stars, and she collected many autographs in an autograph book (as well as some signed 8x10s and 11x14s). Someone took the autograph book and cut out the individual autographs, and this is one of those autographs from that book. We feel certain that it is authentic. Condition: very good. The autograph is glued to a heavier piece of paper and has some discoloration. Learn More about condition grades
