An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36") (Learn More) The Vampire Bat, the 1933 Frank R. Strayer horror murder mystery thriller ("Do human vampires really exist?"; set in an unnamed European country, about a mad scientist who needs living human tissue to conduct his wacky experiments, and he makes it look like vampires are killing the people who he has killed by leaving puncture marks on their necks and draining their blood) starring Lionel Atwill, Fay Wray, Melvyn Douglas, Maude Eburne, George E. Stone, and Dwight Frye NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that original poster material from this very early vampire movie has always been extremely rare! However (likely because it is from it is from Majestic Pictures, and NOT from Universal), the posters sell for only a small fraction of the prices of Universal horror posters from the same time period! In all the 19 years we have sold hundreds of thousands of posters, we have only sold one poster on this movie, and it was an insert as well, but it was in much lesser condition, and we sold it 10 years ago for $743! Also note that this poster was machine folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. There is a 2" vertical scratch in the top of Atwill's forehead and the bottom of his hair, and there is a diagonal crease in the forehead and eyebrow of Wray at lower left. The poster has three extra horizontal folds, and there was separation and weakening on all of the foldlines, and someone put paper tape and clear tape on the back of all the folds, and also put clear tape on the back of around one half of the right border, mending tears and reinforcing creased areas. There is paper loss in the upper right blank border, and a tack hole with tiny surface paper loss around it in the background area near the center of the poster. This poster DOES have a lot of defects, but they are mostly in the borders or on the back of the poster, and after proper restoration by a talented restorer, the poster will look great, and there will be little restoration within the image area.
