Revues featured extravagant costumes, sets and effects, and often nude women. In 1926, Josephine Baker caused a sensation at the Folies Bergere by dancing in a costume consisting of a skirt made of a string of artificial bananas and little else. It has been the stage for many other famous acts including: Maurice Chevalier, Fernandel, W.C. Fields, Ella Fitzgerald, and many, many more! Artist: Alain Aslan Important Added Info: Note that Aslan (Alain Gourdon) was a French painter, sculptor and pin-up artist who was well-known in France for his pin up artwork. He contributed a monthly pin-up to Lui (a French adult magazine) from 1964 to the early eighties. He is also the sculptor of the Dalida's (a famous French vocalist and actress) funerary statue on her tomb from 1987, and her bronze bust that was erected on Place Dalida in 1997. He also sculpted the Fifth Republic Marianne as Brigitte Bardot in 1970, followed by the Mireille Mathieu Marianne. What IS linenbacking? Therefore the shipping for this poster will be more than that for a poster that ships in a tube 32" or shorter, and possibly much more. Please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding on this poster. You can tell how long of a tube this poster needs to ship in by looking at the shorter dimension of its length and width and then adding 4" to that (so a 47" x 63" poster will need to ship in a 51" long tube). Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some pinholes and small tears around the edges, with some pinholes and scuffs in the black background areas, more so in the upper right.
