An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 13" x 30" [33 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) The First Great Train Robbery (released in the U.S. as "The Great Train Robbery"), 1979 Michael Crichton English railroad locomotive railway robbery action crime comedy ("Never have so few taken so much from so many."; "Screenplay by Michael Crichton based on his novel") starring Sean Connery, Donald Sutherland, Lesley-Anne Down, Alan Webb, and Malcolm Terris. Note that this movie was based on an actual train robbery in England in 1853. The movie was intended to be simply called "The Great Train Robbery", but it was released as "The First Great Train Robbery" in England, because there had been a major train robbery in 1963, and the producers were afraid that people would think the movie was about that! Also, the producers were able to convince Sean Connery to perform his own stunts in the movie, including running on top of a moving train (they told him it was going at 35mph, but later on it was proven that it had been going 55mph!).
