An Original 1933 Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Le Rosier de Madame Husson (released in the U.S. in 1933 as "He"), the 1932 Dominique Bernard-Deschamps French romantic comedy ("It's a good old French custom!"; based on the novelette by Guy de Maupassant; about an older woman in a small town who wants to give a prize to a young woman who has maintained her chastity, but none can be found, so instead the village idiot, a young man, is given the prize, and he uses it to leave the town) starring Francoise Rosay (in the title role as Madame Husson), Fernandel, Mady Berry, Colette Darfeuil, Simone Bourday, Odette Barencey, and Fernande Saala. Note that this movie was remade in 1950 under the same French name, but released in the U.S. as "The Prize", and Bourvil played the "idiot", and Marcel Pagnol wrote the screenplay for that version.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that in our last lobby card auction, we auctioned the title card and a different scene card from this movie. Now we are auctioning a different scene card. All three came from the same consignor, and other than these three cards, we have never auctioned any others, and we might never auction another, because cards from this movie are extremely rare. Note that the film distributor "Astor Pictures" primarily distributed re-releases of major studios in the late 1930s through the 1950s, but they WERE the first U.S. distributor on a few non-U.S., including this one. This is the from the first U.S. release of this movie, and it NOT a re-release! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good. There are smudges, darkening, and pinholes around the edges, and some smudges and scuffs scattered throughout the image. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
