Note that this writing team had LOTS of very successful screenplays in the 1950s and 1960s, including Hud and Hombre with Paul Newman. We don't know why this script never found a producer, but the next year, they wrote "The Reivers" for Steve McQueen, and they continued with many successful screenplays, including "Norma Rae" in 1979.
