An Original Vintage Autographed Book (measures 6 1/2" x 9 1/2"; 311 pages) (Learn More) Lana Turner (born Julia Jean Mildred Frances Turner) was an actress from the 1930s to the 1990s. She was born in 1921 in Idaho, and her father was murdered when she was a young girl, and her mother moved to California. In 1937, she was discovered at a soda fountain (not Schwab's, but one close by), and she had a small role in 1937's "They Won't Forget", and she became very popular very quickly. She remained a top leading actress for over 20 years, though her turbulent personal life definitely affected her career (including the murder of her violent gangster lover, Johnny Stompanato, by her own 14 year old daughter Cheryl Crane, and also her eight husbands, the first of which was bandleader Artie Shaw, who himself was married eight times, including to Ava Gardner!). Some of her movies include: The Postman Always Rings Twice, Imitation of Life, The Bad and the Beautiful, Peyton Place (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. She passed away in 1995 at the age of 74. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Lana Turner! The book is the second edition. About the Collection this Item Comes From Note that this item (and 32 others we are auctioning this week, each in its own auction) was consigned to us by an individual who owned a company that made movies and videos with famous celebrities in the 1980s and 1990s. The owner of the company would have the celebrities sign items from their famous films, and sometimes he would find second or third celebrities to autograph an item he already had gotten signed! In addition, he would ask celebrities he came in contact with if they had signed items from other stars that they would sell to him, and he purchased a number of items that way. He also would purchase unsigned items from the famed Larry Edmunds Bookshop in Los Angeles (to have the celebrities sign), and while he was doing that he would also purchase some of their signed items. He would also purchase books by or about movie stars, and he would take those when he would meet those stars in person and have the stars autograph the title page. So all of these 33 autographed items we are auctioning were either obtained in person, obtained from celebrities who obtained them in person, or obtained from the Larry Edmunds Bookshop, and we feel certain that the autograph(s) on this item is authentic! Note that each of the 33 items from this consignor all have this paragraph on them. Condition: very good to fine.
