An Original Vintage Unfolded East German Stage Play Poster (measures 22 3/4" x 30 3/4" [58 x 78 cm]) (Learn More)

Als es November 18 War (literally translates to "When It Was November 18th"), the 1978 Peter Schroth & Peter Kleinert East German stage play production (about the Kiel mutiny) which was held at the Theater im Palast in Berlin, East Germany. Note that this poster features an image of sailors involved in a secret "sailor's council" on the German battleship Prinzregent Luitpold. In August 1918, 350 of the Prinzregent Luitpold crew staged a protest, resulting in executions and imprisonment. The negatively affected the already low morale and eventually lead to the Kiel mutiny. The Kiel mutiny was a major revolt by sailors of the German High Seas Fleet on November 3rd, 1918. The revolt triggered the German revolution which was to sweep aside the monarchy within a few days and it ultimately led to the end of the German Empire and to the establishment of the Weimar Republic.
