Note that Larry Cohen had much success in TV in the 1960s, with many serious shows, including "The Defenders". In the early 1970s, he took a major shift in his writing focus, and he had great success with blaxploitation movies like "Black Caesar" and "Hell Up in Harlem", and then he shifted yet again in the early 1980s, directing and writing the "It's Alive" horror movies!
