The Ghost of Slumber Mountain, the 1918 Willis H. O'Brien silent fantasy science fiction (sci-fi) short ("The crowning triumph of the motion picture"; "These giant monsters of the past are seen to breathe, to live again, to move and battle as they did at the dawn of life."; about a man who has a dream that he looks through a telescope that can see millions of years backward in time, and he looks at dinosaurs and other prehistoric objects!) starring Herbert M. Dawley, Alan V. Day, Chauncey A. Day, and Willis H. O'Brien. Note that this film is considered to be the first to deal with the concept of time travel. Also, this short was one of seven shorts directed by Willis O'Brien, who pioneered the "stop-motion" technique of animation (involving using miniature models that you would move in between each camera shot so that when the film was shown, they would appear to be alive!). In 1925, he was hired to do the special effects for "The Lost World", which was based on the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story, and had great scenes with dinosaurs created by O'Brien. In 1933, he did the "visual effects" for "King Kong", and the same year, he did the visual effects for the sequel, "Son of Kong". 16 years later, he came out of retirement to assist Ray Harryhausen on his first feature, "Mighty Joe Young".
