Date Sold 3/12/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Jumbo Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) After the Thin Man (released in other English-speaking countries as "Nick, Gentleman Detective"), the 1936 W.S. Van Dyke romantic detective mystery crime comedy sequel ("Continuing the fun in their sequel"; "Continuing the fun in their new hit!"; "Their New joyous hit!"; "Mr. & Mrs. Thin Man are back in their joyous new hit!"; "'Me too' says Astra, the Dog"; "From the story by Dashiell Hammett"; one of the very popular "Thin Man" movies; the very first sequel to the super popular 1934 movie "The Thin Man") starring William Powell (as Nick Charles), Myrna Loy (as Nora Charles), James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart; in his ninth movie role), Elissa Landi, Joseph Calleia, Jessie Ralph, Alan Marshall, Teddy Hart, Sam Levene, Dorothy McNulty, Penny Singleton, and Asta (the dog). Note that original 1936 material from this very first sequel to the 1934 movie "The Thin Man" is almost as rare as that from the first movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that, as noted above, first release movie paper from this Thin Man movie is incredibly rare. The only first release U.S. poster we had ever auctioned from this movie (before being consigned this great jumbo window card) was a half-sheet, which auctioned for $6,200! Also note that this poster can't be rolled and must be sent in a very large flat package. Please bear that expense in mind before placing a bid on this poster. Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has nail holes in the top blank border and a few tiny pinholes in the left blank border. It has paper loss in the "ph" of "Joseph" at bottom center (with two tears above that paper loss, one touching the bottom of Asta's foot), and small paper loss that affects the center of James Stewart's credit, with small tears next to it. Other than the above, the card is in really wonderful condition, with slight darkening around the edges, but just a few faint scuffs in the image, which has really bright colors and an "unused" look. I could certainly understand any collector choosing to display this just as it is, or it would be very simple to restore the small tears and paper loss in the bottom credits area described above. Either way, the new owner will have a wonderful (and super rare) poster to display on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
