An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Swedish Movie Poster (measures 27 3/4" x 39 1/4" [70 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Applause, the classic 1929 Rouben Mamoulian romantic musical melodrama (based on the novel by Beth Brown; about a woman who is a burlesque star, and she has a daughter that she doesn't want to be raised around that, so she sends her to a convent, and the movie skips far in the future where the once major star is now down and out, and her grown up daughter returns and is shocked and disgusted by her mother and that sends her into a tailspin, and she ends up working in a burlesque show herself) starring Helen Morgan, Joan Peers, Jack Singer, Henry Wadsworth, and Fuller Mellish Jr. Note that incredibly ironically, star Helen Morgan's real life career ended up paralleling the part she played in this movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Eric Rohman Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was tri-folded only. It had tears and a few tiny bits of paper loss on both foldlines. It had smudges around the edges, with tears and tiny paper loss in the borders, but more so in the right border, with a 6" tear in the right of the bottom border. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
