An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the 1931 Rouben Mamoulian double-personality fantasy monster horror thriller ("Based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson") starring Fredric March (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in both title roles; he tied with Wallace Beery who won for The Champ), Miriam Hopkins, Rose Hobart, Holmes Herbert, Edgar Norton, and Halliwell Hobbes. Note that this movie premiered in New York City on New Year's Eve 1931, and then went into general release in the U.S. in 1932. So except for that one night, it is a 1932 movie, but because it is always identified as being from 1931, we also identify it that way! That also helps explain why there is movie paper dated 1933. It was a giant hit, and the movie was surely still in its first release into 1933, and more paper was printed as it was needed. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we previously auctioned this wonderful still in 2017, and it has now been reconsigned to us, so it is still the only example of this exact still we have ever auctioned! Condition: very good. There is a small area of discoloration in the white background just to the left of the top of March's hat. There are some creases scattered in the still, but they are mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light. The still was attached to a mat with a circle of glue on the back of each corner, and it was later removed, and there is paper residue on the back of each corner. Learn More about condition grades
