Appears in Vintage Hollywood Posters 7 CATALOG SOLD OUT The image at right appears in the auction catalog we published as shown above and was sold long ago and we do NOT have it available for purchase. An Original Vintage Theatrical Tri-Folded Special Poster (measures 25 7/8" x 37 5/8") (Learn More) Fantastic Voyage, the 1966 Richard Fleischer science fiction (sci-fi) fantasy adventure thriller ("A fantastic and spectacular voyage... Through the human body... Into the brain."; "A fantastic and spectacular voyage... through the living body...into the brain."; "Screenplay by Harry Kleiner"; "The nations new #1 pin-up, Raquel Welch, stars in 'Fantastic Voyage' coming soon from 20th Century Fox"; "Adaptation by David Duncan") starring Stephen Boyd, Raquel Welch, Edmond O'Brien, Donald Pleasence, Arthur O'Connell, William Redfield, and Arthur Kennedy. Note that Raquel Welch had spent a few years in Hollywood prior to making this movie, usually appearing in small roles in TV shows or movies, or making a brief appearance on variety shows. But once she was cast in this movie, and the studio "sold" the movie using her naked body on a special poster, she became a major sex symbol and a "pin-up queen"! Also note that Isaac Asimov was asked to write the novelization from the script, and, declaring that the script was full of plot holes, received permission to write the book the way he wanted. The novel came out first because he wrote quickly, as well as delays in filming! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never seen or heard of this poster before! It is entirely in English, but has no printing information at the bottom. It is clearly vintage, and virtually surely dates to the movie's original release. Perhaps the best clue to the poster's origin is a tiny "DESSINA" logo in the lower right corner. We know that 20th Century Fox was having deluxe lobby cards printed in Italy at this time, and it seems most likely that this was a special poster printed in Italy, that apparently got very little circulation, as we have never seen or heard of it! It also has an image entirely different from that of any regular release poster we have seen, and it has a "flat" finish when the regular posters have a glossy finish. Also note that this special poster measures 25 7/8" x 37 5/8". This poster was tri-folded only (which means there is no vertical foldline) but because it would be more expensive to send flat, it will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good to fine. the poster was lightly tri-folded at one time. There are really not any "folds"; they are really more "bends", and they would surely greatly flatten out over time and eventually be almost invisible; there is a 1" tear in the middle of the right border; a tiny area of paper loss in the lower right border and a few small tears, creases, and tiny stains around the edges of the poster. Other than the above minor defects, it is in excellent condition, and it is mostly unfolded too! Learn More about condition grades
