An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Reviews One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) One Night of Love, the 1934 Victor Schertzinger (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) romantic opera musical ("A great star comes into her own"; from the story by by Charles Beahan & Dorothy Speare; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a New York singer who is disappointed after losing a radio talent contest, and she goes to Europe where she becomes a singer in a restaurant, but she is discovered by a voice teacher, and she becomes the top European opera star, and they have a romance, and after many ups and downs, they have a successful romance and she becomes a U.S. opera star) starring Grace Moore (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Tullio Carminati, Lyle Talbot, Mona Barrie, and Jane Darwell. Note that Grace Moore was a major New York opera star starting in 1928 (she was called "The Tennessee Nightingale") who was hired by MGM in 1930 to star in a biography of Jenny Lind called "A Lady's Morals". But it did not do well at the box office, and she made one other movie for MGM, and then she returned to the opera. But in 1934, Columbia hired her to make this movie, and this was much better received, and she appeared in five more Columbia movies. Grace Moore was killed in a plane crash in 1947, and a biography of her life was made in 1953, "So This is Love", with Kathryn Grayson playing Grace Moore NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that Columbia was likely worried about how a movie with an opera star as its lead would appeal to average audiences (especially because Grace Moore had done poorly when she was at MGM years before), and so they created this special "reviews" one-sheet. But rather than just quote movie critics, they had their top stars (Clark Gable, Norma Shearer, Eddie Cantor, and Maurice Chevalier) say how great this movie was on this special one-sheet (and of course, they ran pictures of those top stars as well as Miss Moore's!). We have never seen or heard of this special poster before, and it would likely be the hardest poster to find for someone who collected on any of those above four great stars! Condition: very good. The poster has 1" of separation at the top crossfold and 4" of separation at the bottom crossfold. It has paper loss in the bottom right blank corner and two tears in the center of the bottom border. It has three tiny pieces of paper tape on the back of the top border. Otherwise, the poster is in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
