An Original Vintage Linenbacked Canadian World War II Poster (measures 18 1/2" x 24 1/2" [47 x 62 cm]) (Learn More)

Beware: Do Your Part in Silence, the 1940s Canadian World War II (WWII) poster ("Spreading vital information will undermine our war effort") encouraging people to guard sensitive information, and featuring art of three military personnel talking with a sinister Adolf Hitler overhearing what they are saying.

Important Added Info: Note that this poster was printed in two versions. The images are the same, but one has English, and one has French (for the French speaking portion of Canada). This auction is for the English language version. Also note that we have auctioned many U.S. World War II posters that were designed to be displayed to the general public to encourage them to help in the war effort, but now we have been consigned 10 similar very rare Canadian World War II posters, and they we are currently auctioning them in 10 separate auctions!

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had an upside-down V-shaped tear in the bottom background area just slightly entering the "C" of "SILENCE". It had a pinhole in each corner. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
