An Undated (probably 1940s) Re-release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 28" x 40 1/2") (Learn More) Reefer Madness, the 1936 Louis J. Gasnier marijuana marihuana pot weed drug thriller ("Marijuana drugs, Weed from the Devil's garden!"; "One moment of bliss, a lifetime of regret!"; "Hunting a thrill, they inhaled a drag of concentrated sin!"; "Wake up America! Here's a roadside weed that's fast becoming a national high-way!"; "Women cry for it, men die for it!"; "What actually happens!"; "Never before such exciting frankness"; "A Daring Theme!"; "Dope-created ecstasy avalanching into frightful perversions"; "Makes Beasts of Men & Women"; "Adults only") starring Dave O'Brien, Dorothy Short, Carlton Young, Kenneth Craig, and Lillian Miles. Note that drug and mature movies like these were extremely popular in "late night" showings at small town theaters throughout the 1940s, and they were often re-issued and re-named multiple times. In the case of this movie, it was re-issued under titles such as "The Burning Question" and "Tell Your Children", each time with lurid images and taglines! Important Added Info: Note that many years ago, a collector found around a dozen of these posters. They are clearly "stock" posters that were used for low budget exploitation movies of the 1930s. All of the ones this collector found were overprinted with the title "Reefer Madness" (but I have also seen the same poster with a different title). What was interesting was that the taglines in the top right were also overprinted on each poster, and there were four different variations of taglines! Condition: good to very good. The poster had creases, smudges, and some tiny tears on several foldlines and some minor smudges throughout the poster (those smudges look like minor printing defects). Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but the restorer did not do any restoration to the above minor defects. It also needs to be noted that the poster is slightly "lifting" from the linen in the upper left and upper right borders (but any talented restorer could surely repair those areas without re-backing the poster, and at the same time they could also touch up the defects noted above, if the new owner wishes).
