An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 33 3/4" [62 x 86 cm]) (Learn More) Baby ("Suzy Saxophone"), the 1933 Pierre Billon & Carl Lamac French romantic comedy starring Anny Ondra (she was married to director Carl Lamac, and was a major star in Germany in the 1920s and 1930s; she continued working with her husband after they were divorced, and in 1933, she married boxer Max Schmeling, and they appeared in "Knockout" together, and remained married for over 50 years, until her passing in 1987; in the title role as "Baby"), Pierre Richard-Willm, Andre Roanne, Jean Dax, Paul Ollivier and Alice Tissot NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "pre-War" Belgian poster. Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them!). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had minor wear on the folds and pinholes in the corners. It had a few small tears in the lower right border. There was a 2" tear near the middle of the right border that had tape on the back, which slightly bled through to the front. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and a talented restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
