An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 13" x 16 1/2" [33 x 42 cm]; 4 pages). Also included is an ad supplement that has 4 pages (Learn More) Alexis Zorbas (released in the U.S. as "Zorba the Greek"), the 1964 Mihalis Kakogiannis (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film; billed as "Michael Cacoyannis") U.S./English/Greek romantic friendship adventure melodrama ("Zorba the great!"; "From the novel by Nikos Kazantzakis"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a stuffy Englishman who goes to Greece and meets an outgoing Greek man who causes him to rethink his attitudes towards life) starring Anthony Quinn (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Alexis Zorbas), Alan Bates, Irene Papas, George Foundas, Lila Kedrova (winner of the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), and Eleni Anousaki NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of the pressbook, plus an image of a two-page spread from inside of the pressbook (we do NOT picture any supplements or heralds, if there are any included with this pressbook), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Finally, note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Note that this pressbook was folded across the center at one time. Because of this, this pressbook can be sent in one of our standard size packages (if it is purchased together with pressbooks that can NOT be folded, then it will of course have to be sent in one of our oversized packages). But if this pressbook is purchased by itself (or solely with other pressbooks that can be folded), then the shipping will be much lower, because it fits in a standard package.
