Important Added Info: It seems fitting that King Kong should have the "king" of all pressbooks! I have seen literally tens of thousands of pressbooks, and there are none so large or so lavish as this one. It is rare for any pressbook to have a full-color cover. This pressbook has 6 full-color pages, each measuring 12" x 32"! Almost all of the posters are pictured in full-color, including the legendary "upright six-sheet", which is given an image that is 11" x 22". The cover of the pressbook is a 12" x 32" re-creation of a compacted version of one of the 24-sheets! The 4-page centerfold contains (on one side) images of all the 24-sheets, 3-sheets, 6-sheet, one-sheets, and "jumbo marquee streamer". I have seen several collectors who have framed this poster page on their wall (it measures 24" x 32", and it is very impressive indeed), plus you get the interior pages of the pressbook, which give lots of great marketing information about the movie, including newspaper stories, newspaper ads, the comic strip pages, and much much more! I don't believe there is even a close contender for the title "king of all pressbooks"!

Condition: good. this pressbook has lots of defects, which I will describe in detail below. It is really difficult to give it a single condition grade, given all its different components. The cover of the pressbook (with the condensed 24-sheet image) has a diagonal piece out of the top right corner which measures 3" x 5" at its largest point (the affected part of the image is King Kong's butt!); there are small areas of paper loss across the top edge of the image and someone put clear tape on the front and back of them; there is clear tape across the entire length of the bottom of the cover and you can see under the clear tape that the bottom side of the cover had many slight tears and areas of paper loss; there is clear tape across the middle of the cover, covering small tears that were in the fold across the center of the cover. The back cover (which has the stand-up 6-sheet) has clear tape down the left side, which mostly covers just the blank border, but which interferes with the left edge of an image at the bottom of the back cover; there is some paper loss in the left of the middle of the back cover and then there is some tape running across the middle of the back cover across the bottom of Kong's legs. The 4-page center spread has clear tape down the entire center of the side that does not show the larger posters and there is clear tape across three places in the side with the larger poster images evenly spaced down the page (there is also clear tape on the reverse of those three places). The 10 interior pages are in pretty good condition. Each of them has some clear tape on the center fold, both the area closest to the spine and the area furthest from the spine; most of that tape was put on the borders, so as to not interfere with the image area of each page, but a couple of the pages have tape that extends into the image area. Obviously, this is far from a nice condition pressbook. However, most of the areas are either complete or mostly complete (the only real paper loss is from the cover compacted 24-sheet image), which appears elsewhere in the pressbook. When thinking about bidding on this pressbook, think about how long it might be before another example is offered for sale!
