Date Sold 5/5/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Undated (probably mid 1940s, likely 1946, from the first release of this movie in England) Vintage Theatrical Folded British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures 30" x 40" [76 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) The Undying Monster (released in other English-speaking countries as "The Hammond Mystery"), the 1942 John Brahm werewolf monster horror thriller ("Horror to make you gasp!"; about a werewolf that preys only on members of a certain aristocratic family) starring James Ellison, Heather Angel, John Howard (as the wolfman!), Bramwell Fletcher, Heather Thatcher, and Eily Malyon NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release U.S. posters from this horror movie are extremely scarce (we have only auctioned the one-sheet one time 17 years ago). That one-sheet has a pretty bland photographic image of the leads with a small image of the monster holding the girl in purple at the lower right. This British quad has a full-color stone litho image with artwork instead of photos, and a much larger image of the monster. Also, we can't say for certain exactly when this movie was released in England, but this poster is surely from the first English release, which might have been in 1946, soon after World War II ended, but it is surely from the 1940s. Also note that this is one of several British quads that were consigned to us by a man who has worked in the film industry for many years. A long time ago, he acquired these British quads when he worked with 20th Century-Fox, and he has kept them carefully stored for many years, which accounts for some of them being in wonderful condition. He previously consigned some quads two years ago, and now he has returned with a few more! Anyone who collects British quads knows how rare it is to find ones from the 1950s in any condition, and to find them in at all nice condition almost never happens. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster has creases and slight darkening on the folds and very minor border wear. Otherwise, it is in very nice condition, especially considering its age! Learn More about condition grades
