An Autographed 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" [11 x 14 cm] Cut Album Page (Learn More) Maria Ouspenskaya was a Russian actress from the 1910s to the 1940s. She was a stage actress in Russia until the early 1920s, when she defected to the U.S. She began studying under the legendary Stanislavski, the father of "method" acting. She founded the School of Dramatic Art in New York in 1929. In order to keep her school going, she took a part in Dodsworth in 1936 and was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award, and she appeared in several other Hollywood movies, most notably "The Wolf Man" in 1941. She passed away in 1949 at the age of 73. Important Added Info: This cut album page has been personally autographed (signed) by Maria Ouspenskaya! It could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display! Note that this is one of a wonderful collection of 36 items that were assembled by a collector decades ago, mostly from RR Auctions, which has auctioned signed items since 1976. The person who purchased these items passed away several years ago, and while he did not save most of the certificates of authenticity he received when he bought these signed items, almost all were purchased between the late 1970s and the early 1990s, and we think it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is genuine. In our last auction, we auctioned around 90 items from this same consignor. Now we are auctioning the last of this wonderful collection, and after this, there will be no more left to auction! As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
