An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Meet the Wife, the 1931 Leslie Pearce romantic love triangle bigamy comedy ("Shocking and shrieking! Gay and audacious!"; "From the play by Lynn Starling"; produced by Al Christie; a variation on the "Enoch Arden" theme, where a woman who is a widow marries an English lord, but then her first husband turns up alive, which causes all kinds of complications) starring Laura La Plante, Lew Cody, Joan Marsh, Harry Myers, Claud Allister, and William Janney. Note that there is an oddity about this movie! We have seen a lobby card that simply says "COLUMBIA PICTURES", but without a Columbia logo, and then others with the Columbia logo, and there is a different title card from each version. We are thinking that the ones with the Columbia logo are from a very early re-release (which Columbia did a lot in 1933 and 1934), and that the one without the logo is from the 1931 first release, but that is just a guess. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this first release title card (as noted above, we believe the lobby cards from this movie that have a Columbia logo are early 1930s re-releases)! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card has slightly darkened, typical of Columbia lobby cards of this period. There are some light scuffs and creases scattered throughout the still, including a few in the stars' hair at upper left. There is a piece of tape on the back of the center of the top border, but it was not put there for any restoration purpose. Learn More about condition grades
