An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Forty by Sixty Movie Poster (measures 40" x 60") (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest, the classic 1959 Alfred Hitchcock New York City South Dakota romantic crime suspense thriller ("The Master of Suspense weaves his greatest tale... about a secret that nobody knew... a man who never existed... and a love affair that began in an upper berth - and ended in screaming death!"; "From the killer plane in the cornfield to the cliff-hanger on George Washington's nose, it's suspense in every direction!"; "The master of suspense spins his greatest tale"; "A train may be an old-fashioned way to travel, but an upper berth can be a lovely way to go - When It's Your Time To Go......"; "Breathless excitement that races from glittering Manhattan to the great stone faces of Mt. Rushmore!"; "Written by Ernest Lehman") starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason, Jessie Royce Landis, Leo G. Carroll, Martin Landau, Edward Platt, and Phillip Ober NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. Most 40x60s are found unfolded, but some were folded and sent to theaters that way, and this poster is one of those. There are rough creases along all the foldlines, and there is an extra vertical fold down the left and right 5" of the poster, and there are a lesser number of creases on those foldlines. There are many creases, scuffs, and smudges throughout the image. There are many small tears and tiny areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. There is a piece of paper tape on the front and back of the center of the top border and there was a 7" tear in the top left corner that was repaired with tape from the front and back. Much of the tape from the front has come off, but there are tape stains under it. There is a 10" piece of paper tape on the back of the top of the left border. Obviously, this poster has significant condition problems, but it is also true that it is an extremely rare poster! A professional restorer could surely paperback the poster and greatly minimize its defects, but, given that it is printed on a heavyweight stock, it is likely that the creases within the poster would never completely disappear, although they could be made much less distracting. I would imagine that some collectors who are not very condition conscious could display this poster "as is", as most of its defects are not all that distracting. In any event, please do not bid on this poster unless you have read the above carefully, and have studied our large image carefully, to see the exact nature of the condition defects!
