An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Phantom of the Opera, the 1943 Arthur Lubin Universal musical horror thriller ("The Screen's Classic of Terror!"; based on the classic novel by Gaston Leroux, and a remake of the silent classic featuring Lon Chaney Sr.) starring Nelson Eddy, Susanna Foster (as Christine), Claude Rains (in the title role as Erique Claudin, the Phantom of the Opera), Edgar Barrier (as Raoul), Leo Carrillo, Jane Farrar, J. Edward Bromberg, Fritz Feld, Hume Cronyn, and "a cast of thousands"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card has been personally autographed (signed) by Susanna Foster (she signed it in 1986)! After that, the card was likely displayed for a number of years and the signature (which was in a red ink) faded significantly, although the rest of the card faded extremely slightly (we know because we compared it to other examples). Please consider this unusual defect before bidding on this card. Note that we have only previously auctioned three examples of this scene card, and only one in the last 15 years! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card has some tiny pinholes and staple holes in the borders and some faint scuffing in the background areas. As noted above, it was signed by Susanna Foster on her dress, and that signature has faded, but the rest of the card has barely faded, if at all (see our image). Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
