An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 10" x 13" [25 x 33 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Norma Shearer was the great MGM leading lady of the 1920s and 1930s. She was married to studio head Irving Thalberg in 1927, and that seemed to greatly help her career, and his untimely death in 1936 seemed to coincide with the decline of her career. But that is probably really unfair, because while her marriage to Thalberg greatly helped her get top parts, she did wonderfully in many major movies! Some of her movies include: Romeo & Juliet (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), The Barretts of Wimpole Street, Marie Antoinette (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), The Divorcee (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Escape, Free Soul (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Their Own Desire (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and The Women. She passed away in 1983 at the age of 80. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Norma Shearer! Also note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 10" x 13" [25 x 33 cm]. Finally, note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1980s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items, and over the years he did not re-sell any of the autographed items. Now he has gathered up together all of his autographed items and consigned them to us. So all of the items from this consignor we are auctioning were purchased by this dealer from longtime dealers and collectors, and we feel it is quite likely that the autograph on this item is authentic! Condition: good to very good. The still was trimmed, no doubt to fit a frame. There are some tiny stains that were caused by a piece of tape in the left of Shearer's cheek (by her ear), but they are truthfully not very noticeable at all.
