An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 7 3/4" x 9 1/2" [20 x 24 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Buck Jones was the great cowboy western star who also was one of William Fox's top cowboy actors in the 1920s, before he switched to Columbia, where he became their leading star in the 1930s. He made scores of westerns, and early in his career he also appeared in many non-cowboy roles. When he first started making movies, he was billed as "Charles Gebhart" (which was his real name). In the middle 1910s, his billing changed to "Buck Gebhart", and it was not until early 1920 that he became "Buck Jones" (sometimes billed as either "Charles Jones" or "Charles 'Buck' Jones"). Some of his movies include: Lazybones, Empty Saddles, and The Phantom Ride. He was still making movies when he died tragically in the Coconut Grove nightclub fire in 1942. He was 50 years old. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Buck Jones! Our consignor is a very longtime collector of movie paper who purchased this item years ago, and it was signed, but he doesn't know how the signature was obtained, and he (and we) believe it is very likely that the autograph is authentic. Also note that this still measures 7 3/4" x 9 1/2" [20 x 24 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Finally, note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Condition: good to very good. There pinholes in the top and bottom center and tiny creases in each corner. There is a tiny tear in the upper right background area. It appears as though someone tried to lightly roll the still vertically and there are faint horizontal creases across the top and bottom thirds of the image, but they are mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light.
