An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Style A Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) Ship Cafe, the 1935 Robert Florey romantic love triangle musical ("He was a sailor bold with a voice of gold"; a wacky story of two men who shovel coal on a ship, and they get into a fight, and a countess witnesses it, and she helps both men get jobs in a "floating nightclub", and one of them turns out to be a good singer, and of course, they both compete for the countess' affections) starring Carl Brisson, Arline Judge, William Frawley, Mady Christians, Eddie Davis, and Inez Courtney NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned an insert, two window cards, three lobby cards, a glass slide, and a few stills from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this three-sheet! Note that this is one of an amazing find of seven similar three-sheets that were found in the home of a man who worked at a movie theater in the mid 1930s, and he took these posters home with him and they sat undisturbed in his house ever since! All of these three-sheets are incredibly rare. We are also auctioning four other three-sheets that also came from this amazing find, in four separate auctions, but those four were folded very differently, and they measure approximately 21" x 21" when folded, and three of the four of those are kraftbacked, but just like the seven that were folded the other way, they are also incredibly rare. This may be your only opportunity to obtain this poster (or any of the other three-sheets, which are being auctioned in separate auctions). Also note that this poster was folded oddly, and it now measures approximately 11" x 20", so it will need to be sent in a larger than normal flat package that measures approximately 13" x 22", so bear this in mind before bidding. Also note that this three-sheet was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Also note that the theater that used this poster glued the pieces together before putting them on display (this is typical of many actual theater-used posters in multiple pieces). Condition: good. The theater that used this poster glued and taped the pieces together before putting them on display (this is typical of many actual theater-used posters in multiple pieces). There are many creases and some small tears along parts of the folds, with some tiny paper loss at some crossfolds. There are pinholes, creases, small tears, and small paper loss around the edges.
