An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Great White Way, the 1924 E. Mason Hopper silent New York City Broadway theater stage acting boxing sports prizefighting press agent newspaper romantic comedy ("New York's Main Street offers the most beautiful women in the world."; about a stage actress whose publicity agent gets her romantically linked with a boxer to get publicity, and they initially hate each other, but they have many adventures together, and at the end, she shows up just in time to cheer him on to victory in his big boxing match) starring Anita Stewart, Tom Lewis, T. Roy Barnes, Oscar Shaw, and Dore Davidson. Note that this movie was produced by William Randolph Hearst through his Cosmopolitan production company, and he saw to it that the Hearst newspapers were heavily promoted in this movie. Twelve years later, when Hearst was looking for a starring vehicle for his mistress Marion Davies, he produced a remake of this movie with Davies starring opposite Clark Gable, under the title of "Cain and Mabel"! Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that in the days before television, boxing was a super popular sport in America (it was one of the only ways that poor people had a chance of becoming super successful, and a high percentage of poor young boys of all backgrounds took up boxing to at least some degree). The championship boxing matches were filmed and shown in theaters, but there were a huge number of people who wanted to see them "live", so they would hold them in places like Madison Square Garden, and if the fight was important enough, in stadiums like Yankee Stadium in New York City. This great scene shows a massive crowd in Yankee Stadium watching a boxing match. Condition: very good. There is a 1" tear in the right of the top border. There are faint smudges and dot stains in the blank borders. There is a scuff mark in the lower right solid black area of the image. The card is not at all fragile, and other than the above, has survived really well after 90 years! Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
