An Unfolded Danish Travel Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 38 1/2" [62 x 98 cm]) (Learn More)

Skagen, the 1948 Danish travel poster promoting travel to the town of Skagen in Denmark, and featuring Hakon Spliid art of the Buried Church (also known as the Sand-Covered Church). The Buried Church is the name given to a late 14th-century church dedicated to Saint Lawrence of Rome. During the last half of the 18th century the church was partially buried by sand from nearby dunes. The struggle to keep the church free of sand lasted until 1795, when it was abandoned, and the church was demolished, except for the tower which is the only part of the original structure still standing.
Artist: Hakon Spliid
Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned one example of this poster before!

Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has a small tear at lower right and some minor thin blank border defects. It is otherwise in pretty nice condition and it displays well!
