Artist: Saul Bass Important Added Info: Note that everyone agrees that this poster and "Vertigo" are Saul Bass' two best posters, and it has continued to surprise me that the Vertigo poster regularly sells for much more than this poster! Personally, I like this image just as much (or better) than the image on the Vertigo poster, and I also like this movie just as much (or better) than Veritgo! I think this is an imbalance in the "poster marketplace" that is sure to get corrected over time. I see no reason why one of these posters should sell for less than the other! Note that this poster is not marked, but it is NOT the style A poster, and since we know that there IS a style A poster on this title, we assume that this poster is the style B, so we are referring to it in that fashion. Condition: fair to good. The poster was folded in half an extra time and has small separation and tiny paper loss at the middle crossfolds. It has pinholes and a few tears around the edges with small paper loss in the center of the top blank border. There are a few smudges and stains scattered in the solid background areas and fine surface paper loss on parts of the folds. But the most important defect is that the poster was apparently displayed behind some chicken-wire like frame and that caused the background at the top to discolor unevenly. We have seen other posters like this where the "chicken wire pattern" is very distinct, but it is not as strong on this one. Still, this is a very significant defect so bear all this in mind and look at our super-sized image before bidding. The new owner can leave it as it is or restore it without addressing the background or restore it with addressing the background, but that will be the choice of its new owner.
