Date Sold 9/5/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Movie Script (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 112 pages) (Learn More) Bring Your Smile Along, the 1955 Blake Edwards (his directorial debut!) romantic musical ("The guys, the gals, the great times of New York's fabulous 'Tin Pan Alley'!"; "Bring your rhythm along... For the big hits!"; "It's the big technicolor son-business musical!") starring Frankie Laine, Keefe Brasselle, Constance Towers (billed as "introducing Constance Towers"), Lucy Marlow, and William Leslie. Note that the meaning of the words "Tin Pan Alley" are pretty forgotten today, but in the days before television, just about every home had a piano, and sheet music sold in the millions! In New York City, starting around 1915, 46th Street and 8th Avenue became known as Tin Pan Alley, because that's where all of the song publishers were located, and every would-be songwriter would dream of selling their songs there! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this script is the revised final draft from December 23, 1954 and the screenplay was written by Blake Edwards, and Lucy Marlow played Secretary Marge in this movie. Also note that there are yellow revision pages and the script has seven stapled pages of revisions from January 5, 1955 that Miss Marlow was supposed to insert into her script, but she didn't. Also included with the script are two 8x10 stills, both of which show Lucy Marlow, and they were her personal stills. It is one of eleven scripts that is the personal property of actress Lucy Marlow (her name is written on the cover), who appeared in this production (we are auctioning the eleven scripts in eleven separate auctions). Miss Marlow started acting in 1954, and after an uncredited appearance in "Lucky Me", she got a giant break playing Lola Lavery in "A Star is Born" in 1954. That same year, she met James Dean and they became good friends until his sad passing the following year. After A Star is Born, she appeared in five more movies and several TV appearances, but in 1955, she married Andy Carey, who was the third baseman for the New York Yankees, and she mostly retired and had two children. She remained retired and passed away in December 2018. She spent her last few years with her daughter, who has consigned these scripts to us, and it is a 100% certainty that these were her personal scripts (and some include very rare stills from those productions, and her name is written on some, and this information is noted above). One wonders what kind of career Lucy Marlow would have had had she not married and retired, and of course, we can never know that, but this auction gives one person a very rare opportunity to own her own personal script from this production! Condition: very good. See our multiple images to get a good sense of the exact condition of this script. Learn More about condition grades
