A motion picture for all times."; a re-telling of the true story of Henry the VIII and his attempts to secure a divorce; in the process Sir Thomas More gave up his career and his life because he stood by his beliefs; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Paul Scofield (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; "as Thomas More"), Leo McKern (as Thomas Cromwell), Robert Shaw (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as King Henry VIII), Orson Welles (as Cardinal Wolsey), Susannah York (as Margaret More), Nigel Davenport (as The Duke of Norfolk), John Hurt (as Richard Rich), Corin Redgrave (as William Roper), Wendy Hiller (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; as Alice More), and Vanessa Redgrave NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is the poster that was printed when the movie first opened, because at the end of 1966, so that it would qualify for the Academy Awards. After it won the Best Picture Award, all new posters were printed, and the "pre-Academy Awards" one-sheets were discarded. This title has always been one of the more difficult pre-Academy Award one-sheets to find, and has auctioned for as much as $1200! Condition: very good. The poster had slight diagonal creases to the left and right of the top and bottom 1/4 of the vertical foldline and an extra crease down the middle half of the vertical foldline. There were some creases and scuffs along most foldlines and some tiny pinholes and creases in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking.
