An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Madeleine Carroll was an English actress from the 1920s to the 1950s. She was a beautiful, classy blonde, just the type that Alfred Hitchcock would want for all of his later movies, and it is not surprising that she had starring roles in two classic Alfred Hitchcock movies: "The 39 Steps" and "Secret Agent". In 1935, Alexander Korda sold her contract to Paramount, and they put her in a series of movies, billing her as "the most beautiful woman in the world". Some of her other movies include: The Prisoner of Zenda, North West Mounted Police, and My Favorite Blonde. She passed away in 1987 at the age of 81. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Madeleine Carroll! Also note that this still measures 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm]. Finally, note that this still appears in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the still was printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that it WAS printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us! So it is an original still from , but it was printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1980s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items, and over the years he did not re-sell any of the autographed items. Now he has gathered up together all of his autographed items and consigned them to us. So all of the items from this consignor we are auctioning were purchased by this dealer from longtime dealers and collectors, and we feel it is quite likely that the autograph on this item is authentic! Condition: good to very good. There is slight discoloration in the lower right. There is a pinhole in each corner, with a few faint smudges, stains, and creases around the edges.
