An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Goin' To Town, the 1935 Alexander Hall romantic bad-woman-inherts-fortune-and-tries-to-become-a-lady musical comedy ("She's found a new way of doin' 'em wrong!"; "Streamlined for Speed!"; "West goes modern in a big way as the cattle queen who tires of bad men and muscles into high society to pick herself a good one!"; "Celebrate Mae Day"; a wacky story of a dance hall queen whose fiancee dies leaving her great wealth, and she tries to make herself into a "lady") starring Mae West, Paul Cavanagh, Gilbert Emery, Ivan Lebedeff, Tito Coral, Fred Kohler, Monroe Owsley, Grant Withers, Marjorie Gateson, and Vladimar Bykoff (billed as "Wladimir Baikoff"). Note that this movie was originally titled "Now I'm a Lady", and some stills were printed with that title. It was then changed to "How Am I Doin'?", and we don't know what material was printed with that title. Finally, the title was changed to "Goin' To Town", and that was the final title for the movie. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this one-sheet! Note that this poster is not marked, but it is NOT the style B poster, and since we know that there IS a style B poster on this title, we assume that this poster is the style A, so we are referring to it in that fashion. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had its top 1" trimmed off and it had extra paper loss in the left and reight corners, extending into the top of the letters. It was also missing the right 1" of the image (unevenly scattered down the right side). It had tears and tiny paper loss scattered along the folds, and also some scattered throughout the poster, but no large amounts. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. A really talented restorer performed wonderful restoration to the poster, and while you can see slight signs of the restoration, it will display really well on the new owner's wall, and it is unlikely that people viewing the poster will realize the extent of the restoration it has had. Note that the restorer left a tiny bit of excess linen around all four sides of the poster (they left a small border in order to protect the poster from handling damage, but they did not leave a larger border, to allow it to more easily fit in a frame).
