He is best remembered for his starring roles in the two great 1950 religious epics Ben-Hur (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film) and The Ten Commandments, as well as scores of other movies including: Touch of Evil, Planet of the Apes, Hamlet, The Big Country, Tombstone, Three Musketeers, Soylent Green, Julius Caesar, and El Cid. Late in his life, he became head of the NRA, promoting gun rights. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 84. He had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and died from pneumonia. Important Added Info: Note that this there is a bookplate glued to the interior title page that has been personally autographed (signed) by Charlton Heston! Our consignor is a longtime dealer who acquired this signed item among many other purchases in his inventory, and he does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. Condition: good to very good.
