It's a spectacle light years ahead of its time from 20th Century Fox."; "Written and Directed by George Lucas"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Mark Hamill (as Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (as Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (as Princess Leia), Peter Cushing (as Grand Moff Tarkin), Alec Guinness (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Obi-Wan Kenobi), Anthony Daniels (as C-3PO), James Earl Jones (as the voice of Darth Vader), David Prowse (billed as "Dave Prowse"; as the man inside the Darth Vader suit!), Peter Mayhew (as Chewbacca), Kenny Baker (as R2-D2), and Phil Brown (as Uncle Owen)

Important Added Info: Note that this poster looks to be trimmed, but it is not! It appears that when they created 30" x 40" posters for Star Wars, they wanted to economize, and so they simply used the one-sheet printing plate exactly, which included the words "ONE SHEET - STYLE 'A'" at bottom right, and the NSS number "77/21" to the right of that, and the words "STAR WARS" below the NSS number. But that printing plate was designed for a 27" x 41" poster, and so when it was used on this 30" x 40" poster, the words "STAR WARS" at bottom right, and the tiny NSS information at bottom center were either completely cut off, or partially cut off, depending on how the image was centered on the available space (we have seen several different variations of this, and they all vary as to whether there is any of that writing at bottom, and how much there is). We have never seen an example of this poster that did not have this oddity. As noted above, we have seen some variations in this poster as to exactly what is printed on the bottom of it. This example has the tiny NSS paragraph, which is slightly cut off as described above, but it does not have the "ONE SHEET STYLE A" in the lower right. It is clear that there were several different print runs of this poster, and all are considered to be from the first release, because no one knows which, if any, came first. Also note that this poster was linenbacked and restored by the "Backing to the Future" company, which provided a 7 3/4" x 9 3/4" certificate stating that the restoration was performed by them in October of 2017. This is the first time we have seen a certificate like this, but we hope that many restorers will consider doing the same, because that lets the buyer know both which company did the restoration, and they can also ask them questions about the specific poster (and in this case, the poster is numbered, so that they know exactly which poster it was, in case they restored more than one example of it).

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster was never folded and was in nice condition prior to linenbacking, with some very minor border wear. It appears that the person who had it backed did so for conservation purposes. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
