An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 15" x 40" [38 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Hello Cheyenne, the 1928 Eugene Forde (billed as "Gene Forde") silent Wyoming romantic telephone company cowboy western ("A Daredevil Cowboy Helps Modernize the West"; "Story by Harry Sinclair Drago"; about two rival phone companies who want to try to be the first to have telephone service between Cheyenne and Rawhide, and Mix is hired by one to protect their workers, and he is sweet on the foreman's daughter, who gets kidnapped, and he rescues her and helps his company win the race!) starring Tom Mix, Tony ("the Wonder Horse"), Caryl Lincoln (who had been a 1929 Wampas Baby Star), Jack Baston, and Martin Faust. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Australian daybill! Obviously, the poster designers in Australia were completely unfamiliar with the U.S. location of Cheyenne, Wyoming, because they wrote the title of the movie as "Hello Cheyeene"! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had pretty minor fold wear, with some tiny bits of paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. After the poster was backed, it acquired faint brown dot stains around the edges, in all of the excess linen and entering into the borders of the poster, with just a few extending further into the image. One could choose to live with this defect, or a talented restorer could touch it up, either with or without re-backing the poster, but bear this in mind before bidding.
