An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The League of Frightened Men, the 1937 Alfred E. Green detective mystery crime thriller ("Nero Wolfe can get away with murder - and make you like it!"; "The new Nero Wolfe mystery thriller!") starring Walter Connolly ("as the famous detective, Nero Wolfe"), Lionel Stander (as Archie Goodwin), Eduardo Ciannelli (as Paul Chapin, the crazy killer), Irene Hervey, Nana Bryant, and Edward McNamara. Note that Rex Stout started writing the super popular Nero Wolfe detective novels in 1934, and in 1936, a movie was made called "Meet Nero Wolfe" with Edward Arnold in the title role. The following year, this movie was made with Walter Connolly taking over the part. But no more sequels were made, perhaps because Rex Stout was not happy with the movies, or perhaps there was another reason. In the 1970s, there was an Italian TV series, and someday someone will do justice to this wonderful series of books in a movie or TV adaptation!

Important Added Info: Note that movie paper from this title is quite rare (we have only auctioned eight other lobby cards in all our years of auctioning, and this was not one of those cards). This is likely because Rex Stout or Nero Wolfe fans (of the books) purchased whatever of these cards were for sale in the hobby many years ago (the same situation exists with Nancy Drew lobby cards). Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good to very good. The card has darkened, typical of Coumbia lobby cards of this period. There is a tiny tear in the upper left blank border and faint water staining in the right border, mostly only affecting blank white paper (it is more noticeable from the back). Otherwise, the card is in pretty nice condition.
