An Original Vintage Theatrical 7 1/2" x 9 3/4" [19 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Two Tars, the 1928 James Parrott (Charley Chase's brother) Navy shore leave automobile car accident slapstick comedy short (sailors Stan and Ollie rent a car while on shore leave and get into a wacky and disastrous series of misadventures; produced by Hal Roach) starring Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy (Laurel and Hardy), Edgar Kennedy, Thelma Hill, Ruby Blaine, and Harry Bernard NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY first release U.S. movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned four stills from this movie, and NO other movie paper of any kind, until we received this fifth still! Note that this is one of six wonderful Laurel & Hardy stills from the late 1920s and early 1930s that we were consigned. Each comes from the same collection that contained eight other great Laurel and Hardy stills we auctioned in our last set of auctions (and the collection also contained the rare Gary Cooper stills from the same time period that we auctioned in some of our recent sets of auctions). Most of these stills have "PROPERTY OF THE B J NICKELODEON", which was apparently a theater that saved many stills from movies they showed in the late 1920s to the mid 1930s, which accounts for them being in such excellent condition. The collection was purchased by celebrity Johnny Crawford many years ago. Mr. Crawford first came to fame as the son in the TV series "The Rifleman" and later became a band leader loved movies, and early on he collected many stills and lobby cards. These rare early Laurel & Hardy stills were consigned to us from his collection! Finally, note that this still measures 7 1/2" x 9 3/4" [19 x 25 cm], but it does not appear to be trimmed. Condition: very good. There are four oval areas of discoloration in the top sky background area, but it is truly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light, and otherwise, the still is in nice condition!
