An Original 1952 (from the first release of this movie in Austria) Vintage Austrian Film Program (measures 6 1/2" x 9 1/2" [17 x 24 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) This Gun For Hire, the classic 1942 Frank Tuttle spy espionage counterfeiting murder crime film noir ("Killer without a conscience! Lover without a heart?"; "Based on the novel by Graham Greene") starring Veronica Lake (as a magician who does card tricks!), Robert Preston, Laird Cregar, Alan Ladd, Tully Marshall, Mikhail Rasumny, Marc Lawrence, Pamela Blake, Emmett Vogan, and Victor Kilian. Note that Alan Ladd was fourth billed in this movie (he had been in movies for several years, including in Citizen Kane, but he had mostly tiny roles), but this movie made him a major star. It is incredibly fortunate that the U.S. poster artist chose to feature only fourth-billed Ladd and first-billed Lake on the one-sheet, making it one of the most desirable U.S. posters! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that, immediately after World War II, the U.S. occupied Japan and part of Germany, and many American movies were shown in both countries between 1945 and the end of the occupation. Most of the Japanese posters we have seen from that period and many of the German programs from the same period have a "Motion Picture Export Association" circular printed logo on the poster or program, and apparently this was a program run in conjunction with the U.S. government. Since there were many U.S. servicemen in Japan and Germany at this time, many of these posters and programs have the title written in both Japanese (or German) and in English, and they are from the first release of that movie in that country. This is an Austrian program that has the same Motion Picture Export Association logo, so we assume they also distributed the movies to Austria in that same time period. Also note that we have provided an image of all the pages of this 4-page program (we did this by opening it and laying it flat and photographing the front and back cover together, and the interior two pages together). This way, you see the entire program, and can well determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image. But of course this means that the front cover appears in the top right of our image, but normally, the program would be folded down the center and you would view the cover by itself (and it will be sent folded as was originally intended). Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
