Auction History Result #4473 TUGBOAT ANNIE SAILS AGAIN 7 LCs 40 Hale Date Sold 6/17/2003Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 7 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (measure 11" x 14") (Learn More) Tugboat Annie Sails Again, the 1940 Lewis Seiler comedy sequel ("They're a scream on the screen!"; "For the longest, loudest laughs on land or sea or screen!") starring Marjorie Rambeau (in the title role as Annie Brennan), Alan Hale Sr., Ronald Reagan, Jane Wyman, and Clarence Kolb. Note that there was a movie "Tugboat Annie" in 1933 with Marie Dressler in the lead role, and it was a big hit. MGM would have surely made a sequel, but Dressler passed away the following year. In 1940, they tried to revive the series with this sequel, seven years later, with Marjorie Rambeau taking over the lead role. It likely was not very successful, because there were no more sequels, and it was not until 1945 that MGM tried yet again, this time with Jane Darwell in the lead role in "Captain Tugboat Annie". There were no more sequels! Also note that this movie was made in the same year that Ronald Reagan married his co-star Jane Wyman, and they remained married for the next eight years.
