An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Zander the Great, the 1925 George W. Hill silent orphan family relationship comedy melodrama ("From the famous stage play by Salisbury Field"; about a girl who is horribly abused in an orphanage, and a kindly lady adopts her and she lives with the woman and her young son, but years later, the lady dies, and the girl, now grown, wants to take care of her stepbrother, but the state insists on sending him to the same orphanage where she was abused, and she must prevent it) starring Marion Davies ("In a Modern Comedy"), Holbrook Blinn, Harrison Ford (not the same Harrison Ford that we know as an actor today, but a very popular leading man of the 1920s), Harry Watson, Hedda Hopper, and Jack Huff (in the title role as "Zander", a nickname for Alexander). Note that this movie's plot was very depressing (see above), but this kind of stuff wasn't as shocking to 1920s audiences, since it happened all the time to orphans, and the movie apparently included comedic subplots, enough so that they could advertise it as "a Modern Comedy", which seems really deceptive! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1925 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only auctioned seven lobby cards from this movie (and that was 14 years ago) until we received this window card! Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: fair. There are many light stains scattered throughout the card, with some darker stains around the edges. This window card is an excellent candidate for restoration, because it is likely some or many of the stains can be removed through chemical means, and after proper restoration, this extremely rare window card will display well, but please bear in mind its many substantial defects before bidding on it.
