Selznick; about a young American boy who finds out he is the heir to an English title, and he is sent with his crusty old grandfather, but over time, they develop a loving relationship) starring Freddie Bartholomew (in the title role as Little Lord Fauntleroy; billed as "Star of 'David Copperfield'"), Dolores Costello (billed as "Dolores Costello Barrymore"), C. Aubrey Smith, Mickey Rooney, Guy Kibbee, Henry Stephenson, Jackie Searl, and Una O'Connor. Note that there were a number of movie adaptations based on this famous novel, and the best remembered one other than this version was the 1921 version where Mary Pickford played the title character, even though he was a boy! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this 1936 first release one-sheet, and that was 28 years ago, when it sold for $825! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some creases, small tears, and tiny areas of paper loss on parts of some folds. It had pinholes, tears, and some tiny paper loss around the edges. It had faint water staining in the right end of the top fold. It had writing on the back of the top center that bled through to the front in Bartholomew's lips and chin. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame. While the poster can still be displayed as it is, if I owned this poster, I would have it professionally re-backed, because the above defects can be corrected through restoration. But do not bid on this poster without reading the above and looking at our super-sized image. Learn More about condition grades
