An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (measures 11" x 17"; 16 pages; 4 page supplement) (Learn More) So This Is Love, the 1953 Gordon Douglas musical biography ("The ragtime-to-riches story of Grace Moore"; "When she shimmied, the show-world shook! When she sang, the whole world thrilled!"; "Marvelous Music!"; "The story of Grace Moore"; "Screen play by John Monks, Jr.") starring Kathryn Grayson (as Grace Moore), Merv Griffin, Joan Weldon, Walter Abel, Rosemary DeCamp, and Jeff Donnell. Note that Warner Bros was likely rightfully afraid of marketing a biography movie about an opera singer, so they deceptively put a sexy image of Kathryn Grayson as a shimmy dancer on all the posters, even though this is not at all reflective of the movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Condition: very good to fine. please look closely at our super-sized image! This pressbook is in typical used condition, and is UNCUT, what many dealers would describe as "very good" or "very good to fine" condition. It is important to note that it is complete and UNCUT, which is unusual, since the purpose of pressbooks was for theaters to cut out one or more of the ads and use them in their local newspapers. It may have been folded in half horizontally, which is typical of almost all larger pressbooks. Oversized pressbooks were usually folded in half so that they could be more easily transported. This pressbook has some minor defects, which most likely mainly affect the front and back covers, as those are what was most exposed to the elements over the years. Note that since pressbooks did not have NSS numbers printed on them, it was common for poster exchanges to hand write the NSS number on the cover of the pressbook (either in pen or grease pencil), and while this is a defect, most collectors don't consider it a major one (since it is on so many pressbooks). Also, because the pressbook contains multiple pages and was looked through many times, there may be tears, creases, or smudges around the edges of the covers. If you look at the images we provide, you should get a good sense of what minor defects this pressbook has. I would think most collectors would be happy owning this pressbook (especially since it is complete and uncut!), but if you are very condition conscious, and are looking for this pressbook in excellent condition, then you shouldn't bid on this.
