An Original Vintage German Campaign Book (measures 8 3/4" x 12" [22 x 30 cm]; 31 pages) (Learn More) Bavaria Filmkunst 1941-42, the 1941 German campaign book featuring art and information about upcoming Bavaria Film productions such as Komodianten, Kameraden, Bruderlein Fein, Geheimnissvolle Tiefe, Sein Letzter Bericht, and many, many more! Of special note is a movie advertised that was directed by G.W. Pabst, legendary German director who was still working for the Nazis at this late date (sadly, he was planning to emigrate to the U.S., but he was arrested in France and forcibly brought back to Germany, where he made two movies for Joseph Goebbels, and this book advertises one of them). Note that this book has much artwork for the movies that were being made at that time, and some of the art is signed. We have included images of the cover of the book and several of the interior pages (and we did not make a big effort to find the best ones, and we really wish we could have pictured them all!). Note that even though this campaign book was sent to many theater owners, it appears that very few examples have survived (and surely German editions of campaign books are even more rare, both because of German World War II paper drives, and because the ones made during World War II have Nazi content!). I have been a collector of campaign books and related material for many years, and I know for certain that this campaign book is extremely rare! Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this German campaign book, and that was 6 years ago, when it sold for $202! Also note that German campaign books from the heart of World War II are incredibly rare (both because they likely didn't make too many, but also because surely most were destroyed right after the war. Condition: good. The book is lightly rippled at the top center of all pages due to exposure to moisture. The water staining is most noticed on the cover, the inside cover and the first two interior pages. There is writing on the inside back cover, no doubt from a theater owner that used this book.
