A Set of 2 Original Vintage Official Program and Official Pictorial Souvenir (measures 9 1/4" x 12 1/2" and 7 1/2" x 10 1/2"; 75 pages and 34 pages) (Learn More) 1932 Summer Olympics (officially known as the Games of the X Olympiad) was a major worldwide multi-athletic event that took place in Los Angeles, California from July 30th to August 14th. Note that 37 nations participated in the games, and the U.S. won the most medals, including 41 gold! If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this auction is for a magazine and a program, both produced in 1932 in conjunction with the Xth Olympiad held in Los Angeles! One is the "Olympic Games Official Pictorial Souvenir", a 75-page magazine with a green embossed cover (designed by L.A. Schmucker), with really cool art (and the covers extend further than the interior pages, which was common at this time). This magazine was "prepared and issued by The Organizing Committee", and it gives a history of the Olympic Games and it has a heavily illustrated guide to sites to see in California, plus many illustrations of all the places the Olympic Games were held, and there is even a map of the Olympic Village. The other book is the "Official Program" of the Xth Olympiad, but for a specific day (Saturday, August 13, 1932). Amazingly, they apparently printed a new official program every single day of the Olympics, and they were sold for 10 cents each. This contains only a few pictures, but it gives all the events from that day, including who was in each event (with their lane assignments!), and it also has a list of the results from the events already held and the final two pages has "late results", surely from the day before! The cover has a great full-color poster for the Los Angeles Olympics reproduced on it. We have provided many sample images from the magazine and program, but they are somewhat "jumbled up", but you should be able to pretty easily determine which is from which, and those sample images give you a good sense of what is in both items (both of which we imagine are surely rare). Condition: good to very good. The "pictorial souvenir" magazine has darkening around the edges of the green covers and there are small tears around the edges, with some tiny paper loss. The "official program" was folded down the middle at one time. Learn More about condition grades
