Date Sold 8/4/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Undated (probably 1940s) Re-Release (re-titled "Highway Hell" for this re-release) Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28 1/2" x 42" [72 x 107 cm]) (Learn More) Hitchhike to Hell, the 1941 Pat Carlyle sexploitation hitchhiking prostitution melodrama (about a rural area where a fast talking man plans to take over a cafe from an old man, and turn it into a brothel, with the old man's daughter as the lead prostitute) starring Charles Maurice, Don Hirsh, Diane Winthrop, Julian Harris, Margaret Weiner, Mary Chouning, Gordon Hayes, and Kay Young. Note that sexploitation movies like these were extremely popular in "late night" showings at small town theaters throughout the 1940s and 1950s, and they were often re-issued and re-named multiple times. In the case of this movie, it was re-issued under titles such as "Honky Tonk Girl", "Going My Way, Mister?", "Highway Hell", and "Highway Girls", each time with lurid images and taglines! Of course, there is no way to guarantee that this movie originally was called "Hitchhike to Hell", because many of those kinds of movies were re-titled with titles from other movies! If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this 1940s re-release one-sheet! Also note that this one-sheet measures 28 1/2" x 42" [72 x 107 cm]. What IS linenbacking?
