An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style A Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Fool's Paradise, the 1921 Cecil B. DeMille silent mistaken identity romantic comedy ("Suggested by Leonard Merricks's story 'The Laurels and the Lady'"; about a man who is temporarily blinded by an exploding cigar, and accidentally marries the wrong girl!) starring Dorothy Dalton, Conrad Nagel, Mildred Harris, Theodore Kosloff, and John Davidson NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: R.M. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this half-sheet (it was the ONLY movie poster we have auctioned from this movie), and that was 18 years ago, and the person who bought it those many years ago has reconsigned it, so it is still the only movie poster we have ever auctioned from this movie! Note that this half-sheet came from a collection found in a closed-down movie theater 18 years ago. All of those half-sheets were unfolded, and most had the theater name and play dates written somewhere on the poster in the blank background (much as a window card has this information), but otherwise they were in surprisingly good condition Finally, note that this is a hand-colored half-sheet. In the days of silent film prior to the invention of good quality full-color printing, studios would have half-sheets printed in black and white and then amazingly would hire women to hand-color the half-sheets one at a time (apparently labor was very cheap at the time)! So, each half-sheet is colored slightly differently, and the coloring is never a perfect match. Condition: very good. There is very faint scuffing over the poster (mostly only noticeable in the blank areas). There is black pen writing across the top blank border, and there are some tears around the edges. Note that the defects (other than the writing) are relatively minor and while the poster can certainly be displayed and enjoyed as it is, one could perform restoration to the above minor defects. Either way, the winning bidder will have an incredibly rare poster to display on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
