Date Sold 12/20/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 5 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Devil Dodger, the 1917 Clifford Smith silent romantic love triangle gambling cowboy western (a great story of a minister who goes to a western town hoping to clean it up, but the man who runs the gambling saloon wants to stop him, and there is a girl that both are involved with; at the film's climax, the minister heroically takes a bullet intended for the gambler, knowing that the girl would be happier with the gambler, and as he is dying, he marries them!) starring Roy Stewart, John Gilbert, Carolyn Wagner, John Lince, Anna Dodge, and George Willis. Note that John Gilbert was billed as "Jack Gilbert" in this movie (which is how he was billed in movies at this time). He had uncredited roles in 1915 and then had credited roles in 1916, but he still spent the next several years not achieving major stardom. One of his first major roles was in 1922 when he starred in an early version of "The Count of Monte Cristo". Of course, he would become a top star of the mid 1920s, and then he would co-star with a very young Greta Garbo, and the rest, as they say, is history! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this a very rare group of lobby cards for this movie (we have never auctioned ANY cards for this title in all of our years of auctioning!) Condition: fair to good.
